Johnson was one of my favorite players when this team first started... Hell, he was one of the few guys we got in the expansion draft I'd actually heard of at the time. Basically, a solid 3rd Line center playing as your #1 center because that was how expansion teams were supposed to be built, and I loved it. I don't know how they feel in Chicago or Detroit since he was just another guy in those places, but here he meant a lot more. An original Predator, second ever Captain, and involved with so many firsts for this team it's hard to keep count. He even helped pioneer the player's radio show, which has existed in one form or another til this very day. It's sad that a lot of newer Predator's fans probably aren't even sure who he is, and I'm having a hard time coming up with a good modern compassion as to the type of guy and player he really was. He was never going to be mistaken for one of the best players in the NHL... But a lot of the time, the best people rarely are.
Never a bad word said or heard about Greg Johnson. You were a rock for the team, the franchise and for those of us fortunate enough to be there as fans from the start. You will not be forgotten.
